I feel that it adds more to the feeling of people an underdog. Idk, growing up, I usually always rooted for the underdog, whether it be in movies, sports, books, etc. I guess you can also say I consider myself a bit of an underdog myself, yeah, I was bullied as a kid and had a weight problem.

Well, playing as a woman (Fallout, Saint's Row, NHL 2012, etc) just puts the whole underdog experience over the top with guns and hordes of badguys.. y'know?

I don't give a **** who or what I play as so long as the game play is fun, if its story driven it better be well written and has to have decent VA. Depending on the type of game I expect a specific quality from each genera.

I have not wanted to play a game because the "hero" annoyed the hell out of me so much, like Kratos in GoW. The gameplay is fun, as I liked Castlevania and Dante's Inferno, but dammit Kratos, he is such an unlikeable character and I didn't like playing as him.

So being a female makes you an underdog?

This is what I was gonna say. Seems like closest sexism to me.

We ALL know why HaloSTD plays as women.

I often pick a female character when it's available simply because there's so many fewer games with female protagonists.

However, for any game in which the character you play as is supposed to represent you, the player (Miis for example), I always play as a male character.

Sometimes it's the female characters that are OP in fighting games.

I'm female so I like being given the option of creating a female character, but there have been times when I've preferred playing as a male character. It just depends on the game and my mood.

It's the costumes.

And maybe it's a mind-trick, but female characters seem faster.
