Based on what I've seen among the Sony community, I've long suspected that PS3 owners overall tend to be more interested in the other stuff the console does (like Blu ray viewing, video streaming, etc.) than the actual games that are being released.
Game sales have suggested that at times....But now there is actual survey data starting to show it as well.
I guess it makes sense, in a way. I'm just not sure how this jives with the assurances I've consistently gotten from PS3 fans saying that...unlike the competition...the PS3 is a "gamers console."
I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I use my PS3 more for "other stuff" than for games right now. But it does run in cycles. I'll play a game when a good one is released and then I find myself completely uninterested in that aspect on the PS3 until something really good comes along. Most recently, I've used it more for Netflix than anything else just because it's hooked up to the TV that I want to watch it on.
