It follows in the footsteps that RE4 started off on, much like how RE6 continues in that same direction. I really don't get why people say RE4 is the "pinnacle" and then berate REs 5 and 6 for doing the exact same thing.

Personally, I kinda liked RE5 and 6. Then again, I played with my brother through both of them. I've noticed playing with a friend or brother makes the unbearable amazing.

I don't have a problem with these, either. I have 4, 5, 6, and ORC all downloaded on PS3 and Xbox with DLC.

But then again, I don't mind playing "Devil May Cry 2" lol...

Anywho, I agree with with your first paragraph.

Play RE5 like a typical 3rd-Person shooter, and you will enjoy it a lot more.

that' actually the problem with RE4,5 and 6, they should be survival horror not third person shooters

But the Resident Evil(with the exception of RE1 on release and REmake) games were bad survival horror games. Re4 and 5 are good action games with suspense and limited ammo.

A "beloved series" someone doesn't get around to until 4 years after release.

Makes a single post and never returns to the topic.

Keep gobbling up that bait people.

Co-op was fun but yeah it didn't feel like a Resident Evil game and definitely lost the series some fans after the much acclaimed RE4.

Resident Evil 5 is just fine. It is barely any different from RE4.

Why do you expect RE to still play the exact same way as RE 1,2, and 3 when the main conflict of the story is already settled? The heroes are now on the offensive because they have already passed the "what's going on" puzzle phase. Not only that, how long do you expect the series to continue without you fans ruining it to the point where it just drags and not makes any sense? Furthermore, YOU, the fans, were the ones to convince capcom to change the game in the first place. When Outbreak came out, ya'll bashed the "survival horror" so badly to the point that they had to change it. Ya'll said that the controls were dated. So wtf is the problem now!? They honestly need to wrap up the whole series and tie up all the loose ends they have before you all destroy the series entirely. I don't know why they decided to look for 'fan' input in the first place.

From my perspective, what I've seen with RE5 (I haven't played RE6 yet since my PS3 broke) is a classic case of shift division.

Resident Evil, for good or bad, was a series that people grew comfortable with. When you got a RE game, you got a game that was high on atmosphere and jump scares, low on ammo, and put you in a position where you really had to ponder whether or not to shoot the things that were coming at you in the darkness.

RE5 is a clear division shift. People say RE4 was, but RE4 still had darkness and atmosphere to it- the horror aspect of it didn't really lessen until that one weird part at the end with the silly military stuff. Most of the game was spent alone in that darkness, and even when you did have a partner, she was usually so useless that you never felt overpowered. RE5, on the other hand, from the getgo lets you know you're in for a different experience- you're in the blazing sun in the middle of the day, and you are not only expected to use as much ammo as possible, but you are never alone, not even for a moment.

Is the shift "bad"? I would say it's polarizing. When Star Trek 2009 came out, it threw away a lot of the older Star Trek concepts in favor of noncerebral action and explosions, yet the new fans that it attracted absolutely loved it. Is it still Star Trek, despite erasing the base concepts that the ST fanbase had come to expect?

That's how I see RE5. It's the "Star Trek 2009" of the series. Capcom believes that it can gain more fans with it than by sticking with the old design.

Nope, they suck, especially 3. Terrible gameplay, and not even in the least bit scary. Any Silent Hill game is better than any pre-4 RE game except REmake. RE1 gets a past because it was the best one when it came out. 3 was the start of it becoming an actionb genre anyway(dodge button, generous supply of ammo), but it was both a bad action game and a bad horror game.

also RE4 had limited ammo?? enemies dropped ammo and you could pretty much buy ammo how is that limited

Because you would run out of it fairly frequently, and it wasn't always a good decision to pick it up before you ran out of it.

I don't know what it is about Capcom fans and not liking it when they make positive changes to the series. RE was a series of bad(albeit influential) games, and when they started becoming good, fans disown it(well, no, most people loved RE4, now they just hate on it because it's the cool thing to do). BoF was a series of mediocre DQ clones until BoF:DQ came out, which was an awesome dungeon crawler, which was pretty much better in every category except game length(which the other BoFs only had more of because the were full of filler) and the fans disown it. I haven't played the new Devil May Cry game, but it sounds like it's at least a good game, and fans are disowning it.

Honestly, I think Capcom has the worst fans in the industry.
