the first 30 min of god of war 3. It's one of the most memorable thing i've played this gen. I remember playing the first 30 min and restarting it over about 4 times just to play that part again.

Well the most memorable one for me is an oldy but a goody: The Maw level in the original Halo where you have to escape the ship in a warthog as it blows up around you.

Also, I just remembered Far Cry 3's opening and the later part in the burning building, not for the actual content but Vaas's amazing voice acting.

None. Set pieces and scripted moments ruin games and are gimmicks.

If you don't mind, how do they ruin games? Just curious of your opinion. Is there something inherently wrong with them or just how certain developers portray them?

Dead Space - anti-gravity chamber
Uncharted - jet-ski upriver
Uncharted 2 - train fight
Demon's Souls - Tower Knight
Heavenly Sword - pretty much every set peice with Kai and her bow and arrow.
