For How Long After the Release of PS4 will the PS3 Online Network be Available?

Like others I'm sure, I already have games where the network server to play online has been taken down. It sucks that so much of this generation and forward is focused on online gaming, with the reality being the older systems will lose a considerable amount of their current appeal when being left with offline modes only.

Has Sony or any developers commented on this? I would like to think Sony will keep the PS3 Network open for at least another 5 years, though I see no reason why the couldn't maintain it even longer. My concern is all the companies with PS3 games taking their servers down. Is this something we should expect? In a few+ years a vast number of PS3 games no longer available for online play?

likely never. vita shares the same network as the ps3. dedicated game servers on the other hand can go down any day now.

MGO went down. WKC is going down in June.

It will coexist with PS3. I think the PS2 online capabilty is still active, but the games themselves aren't.
