Going to play every game in the series
Now the question

Its been a LONG (and i mean very long, 10 - 12 years) since ive played MGS 1/2 and ive never played the original metal gear games

My memory isnt exactly up to par on the series, so what do you guys think would be best?

Play in chronological order? Or play in release order?

Chronological if you want story order. Release if you want to do some silly s***.

release order always makes sense since followers throughout time would have no alternatives.

Yeah, Ghost Babel was pretty good, actually. And Metal Gear 2 is a fantastic game even today. MG1 doesn't really need to be played; reading the MG1 recap in the MGS1 Special section explains the game's plot better than actually playing it, but MG2 is just as good as MGS1 considering the hardware it was on.

Just because you disagree with it doesn't mean it's the worst post.

My reasoning for it: They aren't going to introduce elements that were in 1 and 2 like Ocelot and his hand being missing which is a major plot point if you play 3 first, so chronological order works. Now if you want to do it Tarantino style, play the very beginning of 4 and then start from 3.

Chronological if you want story order.

Release order is obviously best for story, because that's how the story was written.

Except if it was written that way, they would have introduced elements that were in the other games into 3.

Chronological order is fine story wise.
