“After having succeeded the important role as the president, I plan on reviewing all Square Enix duties, business and assets on a zero-based budgeting standpoint. Due to the radical change of environment, I’d like to fundamentally review what works and what doesn’t work for our company, then cast all of our resources towards extending what makes us successful and thoroughly squeezing out what doesn’t.

As far as a concrete plan on what to expect from us, I will further explain it on another briefing session in the near future, so I kindly ask for your patience. Thank you for your support.”

What doesn't work (what's out)

Final Fantasy XIII series
Toriyama (fired)
non-traditional Final Fantasy elements
graphics over gameplay (flash over substance)

What works (what is in)

turn based ATB
world map
controllable airship and vehicles
more medieval settings
classic Final Fantasy elements

what's so special about that news? of course the new President what to see how the company is any new president of any company would do the exact same thing and Toriyama is good where he is also i hope this new president makes the versus XIII devs work a little faster

turn based ATB is getting old and since when is there classic FF elements in a series that was always about change

Start by squeezing out the ego maniacs that think they can sit back for 7 years and not turn out a single console game.

Fire every director of FF and put some new guys in charge.

Well, either he pulls them out of the crapper or he kills off the company for good.

I believe Final Fantasy 10's battle system may have been ahead of its time and could well and truly be used in this day and age and still prosper
