Rainbow Moon questions

#1kdognumba1Posted 4/4/2013 12:10:56 AM
So I see Rainbow Moon is currently on sale in PSN and I'm pretty interested in this game but I got a few questions before I purchase.

First question, I noticed a ton of DLC that was nothing but a currency. Is this game like Mass Effect 3's multiplayer where this just an option for people who want to progress faster or is this a forced currency along the lines of f2p MMO's? I'm interested in the game but I really just want to purchase it once never look back.

Second, in the Rainbow Moon Premium Bundle I noticed that the soundtrack is available on it. I've never bought a soundtrack on a console before so I'm a bit curious, if I buy this bundle, will I be able to transfer the soundtrack to my computer and/or other devices or does it have a DRM that binds it to my PSN?

Third, also in the Premium Bundle there's a starter pack. Does the starter pack make that much of a difference or is it just a little extra perk that can be done without?

Thanks ahead of time.

I bought this game day one and played it for around fifty or so hours.

You don't need any of the DLC, although, the rings and extra moonstones(forgot what they're called) really make a difference, more specifically, the experience boosting ring. The game is a grind fest for sure and the ring just makes it a little bit easier to tolerate, especially later in the game. (There is a glitch that allows you to equip one ring to all three of your characters in use.) It's not necessary though for enjoyment of the game. The gold coins help I suppose too, but you get gold in the game just fine through regular play.

The game is super fun if you like strategy RPG's. I don't know anything about the soundtrack, so no help with you there. It would be terrible if you couldn't copy the tracks to an external HDD, but it wouldn't surprise me if you couldn't. I'm pretty sure downloaded movies have DRM.

In my opinion, I would just get the game and the pack that gives you the experience boosting ring. I also bought the moonstones(?) for all the characters I planned on using.

(I'm not if you can get the experience boosting ring in game, but if you can, I would say skip it as well. Maybe someone else can help you with the stuff I'm unsure of.)

I just read this on thatgamecompany's forum:

"So far, though, you can't transfer/use anything you buy from Sony outside of their consoles. That includes music."

However, a couple posts down there are people claiming the opposite to be true. So, take it for what it's worth.

I beat the game, you don't need the dlc to play the game, its just extra money and pearls for stats. Soundtrack is awesome imo, i've got ost from the store of others games I was able to get them off ps3.

Downloading it now along with Blood Omen and Odin Sphere. Been looking at all 3 of these games for a while.

That's great to know about the soundtrack! Lets my purchase be even sweeter!

I think the only DLC I bought was the 5,000 rainbow coins, which definitely made things easier in the beginning. Oh and the free basic DLC that gives 100 coins I believe.

Only complaint I had with the game is the weak story. The combat is fun, the characters have cool skills and some nice animations for special attacks. The music is outstanding in my opinion and the graphics are good as well. The game can last over 100 hours. I have spent about 60 hours so far. I still play it about once a week for a few hours. Would probably play it more, but since I have been traveling a fair amount, my PSP and 3DS get used much more.

It is one of the better PSN games and should definitely be purchased by SRPG fans.
