Tomb Raider went overboard (no pun intended)

I really enjoyed the game but about 3/4 of the way through I was already getting desensitized to the over-the-top action. I really think that it had TOO MANY "unbelievable" close-call moments.

That's realism for ya.

The original Tomb Raider games weren't about over-the-top-action. They were just... videogames.

In SA2, it's Super Sonic and Hyper Shadow.

The original PS1 era TR games were good. The newer ones just follow the same generic design as any other game this gen.

I completely agree with you TC, but i was fed up with them about half way through.

as for the old tomb raiders, this one isnt an old tomb raider, I dont think they were trying to make an exact replica of the old ones, and I thank them for it. I wasnt a fan of those but I enjoyed this one for the most part.
