No, DMC3 for me is the best hack n slash game. This gen, for me it's Revengeance and Bayonetta. DMC1 however I think has the best atmosphere, bosses and enemies. Nothing has topped marionettes, shadows, nelo angelo and phantom.
It's an awesome game regardless of its age, but nah.
Yeah, there's better ones. It was the best of its kind when it came out though. But DMC3, 4, Ninja Gaiden (modern games... except for NG3 and possibly Razor's Edge) and Bayonetta are all better. Still great though. I'd say it's on the level of Metal Gear Rising, except better when it comes to extras/unlockables.
Totally agree with this whole post.
'Come fight beside me,' I said to myself, and although it doesn't make sense, I held my own hand as a small sign of trust, and together I made my defense.
The best in setting, atmosphere, level and enemy design. Personally though, I have to give DMC3 the nod when it comes to combat though. DMC1 is a great game besides that though; played through it recently and was surprising how amazing it is even today.
What happened to survival horror? Ironically, it did not survive - TheCyborgNinja
