I've been thinking about this alot and concluded that: -Mgs1 was good in it's time, but now is really dated. And people hate the twin snakes. -Mgs3 didn't take itself seriously, the characters and dialogue were way too comical. The gameplay has tacked on elements that ended up being dreadful -Mgs4 is often seen as the worst MGS game ever due to it's bad story and dreadful cutscenes. -The psp games seem kinda insignificant. Also PW is also seen as the worst mgs game ever, many fans say it's not really a MGS game rather a generic third person shooter with MGS characters.
But MGS2 is way superior to these games. It has the smartest, deepest meaningful story and gets extra thumbs up for not JUST being a "same game different plot" sequel, but rather almost everything was different yet stayed true to the original MGS. --- Everyday the sun comes up around her, she can make the birds, sing harmony! http://i.imgur.com/VBsWOu2.png <3 Ain't no woman like the one i got..
They're all good, but the third one is widely considered by most, myself included, to be the best. The gameplay, location, atmosphere, characters, music, its all great. But the ending is what had me sold as far as claiming its the best. Its beautiful and heart wrenching as a character piece ^_^ --- I am currently narrating all of the thousand years of dreams from lost odyssey. check out my youtube channel and watch http://www.youtube.com/user/sapnyosentry
i've always thought MGS2 was not only the best MGS game but also one of the best sequels to a game, usually a sequel will be you know a slight upgrade to the previous game but mgs2 had such great graphics tight controls great gameplay all the while like TC said remaining true to the franchise --- SVER is not OP people in the other factions are genuinely bad. GTA is the greatest franchise ever. bethesda games are boring. these are all FACTS
I actually have a hard time rating it over the others because it has a lot going for it.
Ultimately though I have to say that MGS1 is the best in the series. There was a beautiful simplicity to it and it was wonderfully self contained. Every game after it plays the whole Cliffhanger game except MGS4, but that one you obviously have to play ALL of the games to get all the loose ends they were tying up.
MGS3 was really really good, but I felt there was hardly any main character development - though what saves it is the amazing supporting cast. I mean Snake seems to learn the same things that the player does, and I guess for a Video game that's a good thing. Maybe there was just some kind of subconscious disconnect for me because they made him look and sound like Solid Snake.
MGS4 has the same problem, actually, you know the whole lack of main character development thing. You play as the Snake who you haven't played as since MGS1, so you feel like you've lost a major part of his journey. I would have liked it if they had a game between MGS1 and MGS4 where you could have followed Snake a little more and seen more of his plights. In MGS2 Snake was setup as a mentor figure who really seemed to have it together, and by MGS4 suddenly he's all depressed and stuff. I dunno, it just felt like a jarring change from his previous character development. --- http://i.imgur.com/Gel15.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GOZjlwIwfk&ob=av2e If you click my sig, make sure you watch at least 60 seconds.
No. It's not. It's not even the best, second best, or third best. It's better than Peace Walker. Which people go gaga over, by the way. --- Don't just post youtube links. Say what the **** they are. http://i.imgur.com/WaN8M.png
