Before buying a PS3 slim, (it's 250 GB with Uncharted 3) for $250, can it play PSone disc? If so how can you save the game?

The Slim version and the Super Slim version do read PS1 discs. You can create an internal PS1 memory card in your HDD.

This. At that point you just save in the game.

There's also a ton of downloadable PS1 games on PSN and it's much cheaper than scavenging for discs

Ok new question...if I have an External Hard Drive for a PS3....can I use the same External Harddrive for a WiiU?

I don't think so. Nintendo is so "exclusive" when it's up to external stuff. Those Wii SD cards needed to me specific ones for the Wii, if you didn't use one that wasn't a Wii one, it wouldn't work. The same thing happens with the PS Vita, you need to use the specific Vita memory cards, that are more expensive, rather than using normal memory sticks.

So the short answer is, I seriously don't think so, but you should give it a try and share what happened.
