Atelier Rorona and Ayesha is boring the hell out of me.

Totori and Meruru are better though. Rorona had more strict time limits and random game freezes, and Ayesha doesn't even have dual audio like all the other Atelier games and only a partial dub.

seem like the only reason you don`t like ayesha is because it doesn`t have dual audio, since that`s the only thing you comment on when talking about Ayesha. also liked Ayesha better than Totori though not sure about Meruru.

anyway, I enjoyed most of the atelier ps3 games. They`re pretty different games and a nice change of pace from the normal set of rpgs that I`ve played.

For me of the PS3 games it's:
Rorona > Meruru > Totori > Ayesha

They're all amazing games though. Ayesha's script is still solid. It's like what Star Wars would have been like if they got weak actors to play each part. It takes away from the impact each scene has on you.

Totori is one of the best jRPGs this gen, though I haven't played Meruru yet.

I'd like they more if they got rid of the time limits, and toned down the Anime themes. The closer to Atelier Iris they are, the better, because that one was amazing and I loved it.

I disagree about toning down the anime themes, because that's what I like so much about these games (the "visual novel" like dialogue) but I completely agree that these games would be a lot more fun without time limits and if they were more like Atelier Iris used to be.

I don't understand why they even opt for the visual novel approach when they have character models...and these aren't PSP games.

You take a game like Star Ocean 3 or Valkyrie Profile for PS2 and they have well made cutscenes with no need of 2D still art visual novel style.

With a game like Blazblue or Persona4Arena, I could understand why theyd do that (because those games are 2D anyway and it'd take a hell of a lot of frames to make them fully animated)

On the whole though, visual novels are one of the laziest non evolving game genres out there next to FPS. When you have visual novels from the PC Engine / PC-FX circa 1994 era that are better animated than most visual novels coming out for PC/PS2/PSP nowadays, that's called de-evolution imo....

I would just love another Shadow Hearts like series by Japan. Those 3 games were absolutely excellent and unique in their own way. Mixing real life events and characters (Al Capone lol) with very bizarre and messed up demonic fantasies. The enemies designs were weird, the music was absolutely fantastically weird.

The game might've been a lil edgy but it needed to be.

The only one I enjoyed was Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana. AI2 and 3 did not impress me at all. After that, the games have held no appeal for me. I tried Ayesha, but it felt like it has no real goal, so I gave up on it and just admitted Atelier games are not for me.
