So Capcom... Breath of Fire???

#31MoggyPosted 5/3/2013 3:39:56 PM
All of these negative posts are driving me up the wall. I want to see another Breath of Fire game. There's a Facebook page dedicated to it. Capcom's been picking themselves up from its past DLC blunders. And Dragon Quarter was an excellent game.

The fans don't deserve any more. They rejected what was quite clearly the best one. DQ was leaps and bounds above the others in terms of gameplay, story and music.

I loved the other BoFs growing up, but going back to them, they are about 80% of the game is filler, the combat is extremely generic, and the music never gets above slightly above average.

The "Fans" were fans of the game as it existed before DQ. It's not that fans rejected DQ because it was a bad game, they rejected it because it's not the game they wanted.

Is Breath of Fire a game that fans want? Well, then Capcom isn't going to make it. Because they hate you.

Well, then they wanted a super generic game with a ton of filler.

This is coming from someone who grew up with 1 and 2.

Well cry yourself to sleep because it's not happening.

Just like how I want a Gamera game and its not happening either....

Generic is another one of those meaningless terms that people like to sling around. What you even saying?

Oh, this game plays like most other RPGs. No {Bleep} sherlock, that's why we have genres. They're just classifications of games with similar game play, of course an RPG is going to play like an RPG. It's like saying an FPS is generic because it uses guns and is in first person.

Peeps liked what BoF brought to the table. They liked what other RPGs similar to BoF brought to the table. They like it, so they want more of it. It's not that hard to grasp. Was it perfect? {Bleep} no, there was tons of room for improvement.

Trying to reinvent the game and turn it into a pseudo survival game isn't the way to make it better. You just change what it was, and while it may have been enjoyable, all you're doing is splitting the fanbase and making it even harder to please anyone.

Old BoF was basically just Dragon Quest except with the main character having an ability that made bosses a joke. That's how its generic. The story for 1-3 was also pretty much the same plot.

All they really did to change BoF dramatically was get rid of the world map(which they had already completely changed for the worse with both 3 and 4) and give you only enough characters for one party combination.

Items and armor were prohibitively expensive in the old ones too. The Save system didn't make much of a difference because you couldn't save mid-dungeon in the other ones, and there was very little reason to use up your limited save tokens since enemies didn't respawn, and you could suspend save at any time for convenience. There was a prohibitively limited inventory size in the first one too.

Switching to a survival style wasn't a huge leap from the other ones.
