8 HOURS to backup 160GB??? RIDICULOUS Sony.

Is this normal or do I have a slow backup drive,
Using the "backup" utility with a 500GB USB HD
My PS3 may overheat and die before this finishes.

I hope PS4 backups are not this slow.

Pay to play (after you've paid) = greed. Games without user profiles, stats and scoreboards = lazy producers, bad design choices.

Sounds pretty normal to me for 160 gigs lol

I still don't believe most people on gamefaqs are even gamers. Just assuming they are embodiments of hate and stupidity taking digital form.

I've always deleted all of my game installs before performing an emergency backup. It does take ages.

Just wait until you run the restore utility on a new console and realize that you'll still have to redownload everything from the store regardless. That's what happened to me, anyway. Damn thing gave me all my images, movie / music files, and the save files that weren't locked, but the 250GB of digital games were nowhere to be found and I had to redownload everything. After that, I realized that the backup utility is worth approximately jack squat. You're better off just getting another PS3 and running the transfer utility when it seems like your current system is about to go on the blink. At least that way you'll get everything in one shot.
