Including shipping and the diagnostic fee, around $120 dollars.

Damn 120.....geez you can call sony and they can get you a refurb slim for 100 bucks....YLOD is fixable but if you PS3 gets its once it will get it again...I fixed mine then it got it again 3 months later and I got it fixed again and it went out in 2 months....every time you fix it ....its takes shorter and shorter to break. Play N trade fixes it and online and sometimes cell phone shops do too....It cost me 50 at playntrade and 30 bucks at a shop but i recommand to fix it...back it up and if it breaks again get a new one and restore the back up on it. if you have ps2 games but a used ps2 slim for like 30 bucks somewhere...

Meh, if it happens it happens, nothing is 100 percent absolutely perfect these days. Anyway I had my 60 gig PS3 reballed by endless electronics two years back, which was 80 dollars for the reball and 30 I think for the diagnostic (which also double as express shipping back to you). I also had them put in some new thermal pads/lead solder/cleaned it out and all that good stuff, haven't had issues with the PS3 since.

Even if it does ylod again or whatever, I got a lifetime warranty with them so its not that big a deal to me....and I also kept my save data (which was a big deal for me, no way in hell was I starting over in star ocean 4 again).

What exactly is the cause of that? Hard drive issue? An everything-is-probably-going-wrong issue? lol

The ylod? Pretty much a mix of overheating and the crappy lead free solder sony used in the phatty ps3s.
