Joe Biden wants a tax on violent video games

#71CokaineCowboy77Posted 5/16/2013 12:08:45 PM
Violent video games only affect developing brains, which is why there's an age restriction in place. It's the parents responsibility to moniter what they're children is buying and doing.

This is why I prefer people like Paradox/Paradigm (can't remember his/her username at the moment) who post articles - they don't add stupid quips like that at the end.

If you could read, you'd already know that it was Reverend Franklin Graham (definitely not a "liberal") that wanted the tax on violent video games. Biden just said there was no legal reason why that wouldn't be possible if the decison was made to do so, and there's not.

Next time try actually reading the article you link to.

the only logical reason they would come up with to tax these games would be to imply that they do some sort of harm due to the level of violence.
I don't mind paying high taxes on things like beer or whiskey, because they are a higher risk item.
but there isn't any level of proof to cosider games as any sort of hazard.

But they violently manipulate your brain by flustering you and forcing you to think in abnormal and awkward ways.

Yeah, these Liberals are a hypocritical bunch...they will condemn video-games all they can, and even tax them (to make them more expensive so as to be less affordable)...but when it comes to violent movies they are silent.
probably because about 90+ % of all movie stars, directors, producers, writers, etc, all vote for Democrats and even help them raise money for their elections...therefore they will get defended while video-games get harassed.
Gotta blame something, and they are good at blaming others and especially inanimate objects (guns, video-games, money, etc).

And while the Reverend Franklin Graham may not be a Liberal, he holds no office of power and thus CAN'T push for any policy or regulations or taxes. And there are plenty of Conservative Republicans who have defended video-games, but they get zero attention. Most of the people attacking video-games are Liberal Democrat, although there are some Religious Republicans that do also.
Both disgust t me, because they are just using video-games as a scape-goat...which is what they always do. But more so Democrats.
Before that there was Hilary Clinton and that ass-hat Jack Thomson.
And lets not forget that Harry Reid (Senator-Democrat) has also come out publicly against video-games.

So we have a bunch of Democrats that hold public office, and some people that only vote Republican that do.
The Democrats actually hold the power and can do these things...all the Republican people can do is complain about it. But there are no Republican politicians that have ever wanted to do anything about video-games, because as far as they are concerned, it is up to the parents...which is the way it should be.
The Democrats are in favor of a big Government that tells people what to do.
it's obvious who we should be more concerned about.

A few decent points.
Though it totally fell apart at the end. Repubicans being about small gov't is becoming more of a myth then anything. And I am not demonizing or praising any group mind you.
The best example would the the patriot act.
That thing that was a huge violation on individual rights? And yes both dems and repubs are to blame. It's not fair to place any blame on any party, only the individual.
Tipper Gore was one who was active back in the day against violence in media; now we have esrb system , and good! That's really where it should have ended.
And at the same time Charleton "planet of the apes" Heston was also in the game against rap music - apparently the second amendment was ok, just not the first.
It doesn't take being liberal to be a hypocrite , it just takes being a person. We all do it, and why not? Its fun!

Violent video games can affect the brains in developing individuals. Usually by adult age, people can seperate fantasy from reality. Even though I played games like Mortal Kombat, Doom, Quake, Resident evil growing up, and it has not affected me one bit.

With that said, it's still the parent's responsibility to monitor their children.
