From

- Too Human
- Dragon Age
- Skyrim, and Elder Scrolls games in general
- LoTR games
- The Witcher
- Kingdom of Amalur

They have terrible animation; no concept of physics, impact and momentum; no concept of body hit detection; the enemies have terrible AI, etc

Since combat is 90% of your gameplay, Western-made RPGs tend to be very boring and dull, no challenge, un-interesting.

So What's with these western developers, have they not heard of animation engine or motion-capture engine? are they not familiar with physics engine?

So why?

Because they know ameriboos will buy the games anyway, so they don't put any effort into the actual development. And they rely on modders to fix their crap.

As opposed to selecting a move from a menu, watching a flashy animation, then some numbers appear?

As a matter of fact, yes. That was TC's point. WRPG try to be action games but end up with very terrible combat.
