Trophy Offline Mode?

#1mab2815Posted 6/28/2013 11:45:18 AM
I never actually knew what offline mode did for the trophies. I don't know what the differences are. What does offline mode do? What does it mean? Will I be able to get online trophies? I am scared to turn it offline mode. Will it affect your trophies? Will it cut down on the waiting time to see your trophies? I think that is it.

Please help me out. I just have never really gave a rats bum about it until now.

Calm down, it won't affect your trophies... :)

It just, as you said, cuts down the time to view trophies (aka, it doesn't 'sync' each time you want to view them).

Online mode saves your trophies to the server when you connect, and also allows you to see Vita trophies on the PS3 (I think). If you keep it in offline mode, you can still earn trophies but they are only saved locally, so you can potentially lose them if something goes wrong with your machine.

Offline mode just makes it so they won't sync when you look at your trophy list while in game.

It still syncs every time you look at the list and your not in a game though.

I'm a pretty dedicated trophy hunter and I always have mine set to offline mode now. It's much less annoying to look at the list when it's not trying to sync every single time.

There needs to be the option to sync, I'm tired of waiting for a sync every time I look at my list out of game...or auto sync in the background like 360...it's 2013 I'm pretty sure we have the tech to not need to manually sync trophies

I'm surprised no one seems to have wondered if it will be easier/more efficient on the PS4. No one likes the syncing issues on the PS3.

Offline is much faster.

The difference is Offline mode is accessing the list stored on your hard drive and syncs every time there's a difference, whereas online mode is loading the list from the server every single time.

Offline mode is much faster, and there is no reason to use Online mode unless you own a Vita. Online mode will display trophies from Vita games, offline mode won't.
