SE's Kitase: "We are aware there is max expectation from fans for a FVII remake"

(From an interview regarding Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD..)
After working on a Compilation of FFX HD, do you think you will keep on following this path and work on a Compilation of FFVII HD, including for example Dirge of Cerberus (HD Remaster) and Crisis Core (HD Remaster)?

Kitase: "We are aware that there is a max expectation from our fans for a FFVII remake and we know that. At the moment there is no plan. But if we did want to do that, we have to sit down and think carefully what would be the best possible way to do that. It could be a remaster like X/X-2 HD Remaster or possibly a full remake. This time, itís our first ever HD Remaster attempt. So I think it has broaden up of what we could choose from. We have to investigate to be sure what our fans are looking for and then we have to take the right decision if we were to do FFVII an another time."

LOL no, PS1 games don't get "remasters", it's either a Twin Snakes/REmake-esque remake or nothing.

Just redo the graphics and fix the odd glitch. Do what REmake did and keep it pre-rendered though. Just add a couple of nice 3d character models and a world map.

DON'T screw with the gameplay or story!

They remake it, and FFVII will always be referred as "the greatest RPG, apart from that crappy remake"

Guaranteed.

You mean that crappy remake with that you-know-who's resurrection introduced as a side quest, because that would really happen. Guaranteed.

Yeah they'll probably drop that in there, too, just to ensure that they start hacking away at it's charm from the get go

Like others have pointed out, either full-blown complete overhaul like REmake, or Final Fantasy 4 DS, or Tales of Destiny: Remake or Pokemon HG/SS style OR don't bother touching the original title.

Depending on how massive FFXV would be, they would have no lame excuse like (HD towns being impossible) to be not able to remake FFVII from ground up.

We live in a world where Time and Eternity gets a release outside of Japan and Final Fantasy Type-0 doesn't.

FF7 does not need a remake! Xenogears needs one badly, that game is an unfinished masterpiece
