I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

Jedi Knight / Quake

It was a magical night, when my parents were out of the house, and I had free reign over the dial-up connection and could tie up the phone for as long as I wanted. I apparently did really, really well in Jedi Knight and joined some clan and became one of their "Saberists." Don't know how or why, but I did it all the same. I blame it on my extremely easy tactic of "running around the guy in circles swinging my saber as wildly as possible." If that was a good tactic, then I was either extremely lucky, or it must have been some sort of strange shock-tactic that worked. Then I played Quake later that night and got complimented on how well I was playing by two or three people.

Never had my dial-up work that well or that smooth ever again. It brings tears to my eyes to this day. I have cable now, so it's much better - but back then, it was magical.
