Movies based on video games = .....

Why oh why...
Why do we keep getting these impotent movies "based on video games"

We got Doom... Terrible
We got Resident Evil... Still terrible and all about Mipovich or whatever
We got Street Fighter... Yes there is love for this movie but still, not too great
We got Super Mario... ..same thing

Now we are getting a movie about Assassins Creed... Geez...

This is why its embarrassing to be a gamer....
Its like a nightmare...

ketword: based.

they take elements of the game, and make a movie about it.
its not the same as adaptation.

when a book gets turned into a movie, its more or less faithful to the source.
same story, same characters, etc etc.
no movie based on a videogame has been an adaptation. they have all been based on videogames.

Doom was a great popcorn flick... The whole FPS sequence was so awesome... I wished the whole movie had been shot that way.

In general they suck. That doesn't mean it's impossible to make a good one, so they might as well keep trying. Who cares if they end up sucking anyway? It doesn't affect the franchise. Plus, the R&C movie is gonna be gooood

They were going to do a Halo movie, but it fell through in the production stage (thank GOD).
And supposedly they are in the works of making games based on....Gears of War, and Dead Space.

Plus, you are also forgetting about Silent Hill.
Which wasn't too bad.

Hitman had a lot of chances, but it was decent IMO

Max Payne: SO MUCH POTENTIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! killed by Mark Wahlberg and no offense to Ludacris, but him Bravura? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I think Steven Spielberg is producing a miniseries for Halo.

More or less this.

For some reason movie makers think that people are happily willing to watch a movie where they know how everything happens because they read the book, but think that if people watch a movie about a game they played, knowing how everything plays out ruins the experience.

At least the first few Resident Evils were full movies but the new ones are more like episodes of a tv show with no real beginning, middle part or ending.
