Buying a 60GB PS3

#1KzXPosted 10/13/2013 12:24:11 PM
Hello,

I'm interested in buying a 60gb PS3, the ones with backwards compatibility. At Gamestop all PS3's are 149.99 now.

If I buy a warranty, would I effectively be safe if it breaks? I know they are old now, but I like the backwards compatibility.

Thanks!

I just saw the same ad yesterday.

I've been thinking about getting one as well and the 60 GB so it has PS2 BC.

I'd buy it mainly for the RPG's I've never played.....those being ALL of the PS2 & PS3 rpg's.

The 60GB PS3s have nearly as bad failure rate as a launch Xbox 360.

Why dont you call Gamestop and ask them? They know the warranty better.

Only took it 7-8 years, and it still hasn't quite reached that number yet. But yes, the shelf-life of 60's these days is pretty limited. You may want to just invest in a newer PS3 and a PS2. Both will probably last you longer.

Pretty much this. Gamestop is just trying to get rid of their phat PS3 trade ins because its building up like crazy. Buy a new PS3 super slim and a slim PS2 and you're good. It might cost you some extra money now, but you'll be better off in the long run.

I guess out of those millions of Xbox 360 owners who got RRoD, every one of them mistreated their console.

Has to do with the lead free solder actually and overheating, actually. Nothing to do with mistreatment of consoles since I kept my room really clean and gave my PS3 plenty of breaking room on an entertainment stand in the open.

Watch out, Oblivious_Carrot used to work at GameSlop, and he is a shill, so he will probably be very mad at you saying this and come to GameSlop's rescue.

Did you examine the thermal paste and / or replace it?

And I never said people mistreat them or anything along those lines, so drop the strawman attempts until you have your back up to smother the issue, Bleeding Vag
