I am thinking about finally playing through this game, but how long is it really?

With the side quests, it took about 50 hours, but there are post game quests too.

Depends on how you play it.

There's a ton of content to the game. If you want to explore all of it, you could be playing for several hundred hours.

If you just blaze a trail through the game, you could finish it in 40 hours, if not less.

...and anything in between, depending on how much of the content you want to play with.

I finished the main story in 65 hours and got the platinum in 97 hours. I took my sweet time during story so YMMV.
There is a board for RPG, you know:

I took my time, collected all the familiars, screwed around and really took a very slow pace trying to really enjoy and explore everything. All side quests, all items, and did all the alchemy that was possible plus I wasted a chunk of time in the casino playing a card game I liked. I also maxed out a number of familiars.

I squeezed out every possible thing to do and had around 100 to 120 hours in it.

But I could easily see someone playing for 30 hours and being done. The game is super easy and at end game most of the familiars I was using were ones I got early on and never really went out of my way to get.

Unless you hate the game and quit I would put an average playthrough at maybe 50 hours. Less for people who go straight through the story, more for people who collect familiars for completion purposes.

Since you haven't played yet, I should give you a warning:

Before hitting the second hour, I was ready to quit, the game was just not grabbing me at all.

I decided to soldier on a little longer and got to a point where I was finally interested and I am now on about 12 hours played and enjoying it well enough to look forward to when I can play it later.

It starts off a bit slowly but, it does start getting good once they add more layers to the story and combat.
