Video Games you like that most people don't like or are unaware of

I made a topic like this once before that got a lot of views and hits and I'd thought I'd do another one. What are video games that you really love that nobody seems to know about either due to poor sales, poor reviews or just didn't spread via word of the mouth? Here are some examples for me.

- Dot Hack original four game series and Dot Hack G.U. three game series (PS2): Repetitive, but still simple and a satisfying RPG that isn't as hard as Final Fantasy VII, is definitely less frustrating and leaves you with a good feeling at the end. If you play a complex RPG, you'll be totally lost and even I haven't mastered Final Fantasy VII yet. Dot Hack however is a simple RPG and that was why I really liked it; simple RPG's like Pokemon seem to be very popular and that is a good strategy, have some complex games and some simple ones. I only knew a couple people who were interested in this game and I happen to own all seven of them. It is a rare video game so you might be expected to pay several hundred dollars for the complete set on Amazon or eBay. But it's a great underrated gem.

- Fatal Frame (PS2): I fell in love with this game right away. I am a fan of the survival horror genre and this game is simply a masterpiece. There are three games released in the United States all on the PS2 and recently released as PS2 Classics on the PlayStation Store. And don't worry, I won't spoil any story for you. Your enemies in the game are ghosts and your only weapon is an enchanted camera. For it to be most effective, you have to wait until the enemies are as close as possible to you until you take their photos to hurt them. The game basically rewards for you being spooked and that was absolutely ingenious. This game is one of the scariest I've ever played, I was actually afraid to finish it. It is truly amazing and I don't understand how this didn't catch on; maybe because people are too scared? Definitely buy these games if you get the chance.

Now there are a few other games I could go into detail about like Earthbound on Super Nintendo or Super Contra on NES. I'll be over the character limit if I talk about every game. I was only talking about the ones I grew up with. I was born in 1990 and didn't start playing video games until 1998 so I was well past the stage of playing NES and Super NES, but I love them now. But we are free to enjoy what we want, if you enjoy playing a game like "E.T." on Atari 2600 or "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing" on the PC, I won't judge you and if you want to play them, feel free to do so.

I love the .hack games and would buy a HD collection in a heartbeat.

Dynasty Warriors is a series that I feel most people chalk up to being a simple rehash over and over and over but they do make changes. Not to mention they have the spin-off series that allow them to try different things.

Fatal Frame series was quite everywhere back on PS2 days. Sadly now it's on Nintendo....

Anyway, as someone said above, Warriors games.

Drakengard & Nier series, for being incredibly niche stories, outdated graphic, and so-so gameplay

Illbleed? Really? The Game Informer guys just did a Super Replay of that, and it didn't look that great.

Gamers are too reactionary. Games are like fine wine, they must linger for us to get their true taste. There are plenty of examples.

Cross Edge - Already mentioned reasons before, to lazy to re-type them...

War of the Monsters - Could be wrong on this one being "Unaware of" or whatever, but it was a fun little game to play to pass the time, gotta redownload that to my PS3 sooner or later.

Can't think of many others, that people wouldn't be "aware" of.....

Every game I like.

Well, not quite, I do play some mainstream games like Mario and Pokemon, but the average person won't have heard of 90% of the games in my collection.

across the ages of gaming:

C64/NES/DS/Amiga: Impossible Mission 1 and 2, Wizard by Epyx, and Space Taxi
Sega Master System: Zillion, Spellcaster, Ghostbusters (also C64)
Genesis: Mystic Defender, The Immortal (reminded me of Dark Souls but more painful), King's Bounty (a game I still playthrough every 5 years or so), Faery Tale Adventure
NES: Adventures of Lolo 1 and 2 (everyone born after 199whatever should play it)
PSone: Silent Bomber and Trap Gunner are great games that should be more recognized, also Saga Frontier 2 didn't get enough credit for it's time
PS2: R-type Final (one of my favorite shooters ever thanks to unlocks)
PS3: Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (still don't hear enough about it and it was a sweet game)

I've been surprised by the amount of hate I've seen for Knytt Underground whenever I see a topic for it. People seem to expect a Metroidvania out of it, then get disappointed when there's no powerups, when really what the game is is a massive maze of exploration and puzzle platforming, loaded with secrets far beyond what you can see on the map screen.

It's just so interesting. Like, I've never played another game like it. It's not amazing but it's one of those neat little Dreamcast games that you wouldn't really see getting made now. It's in the same boat as Blue Stinger. Both games are dumb as hell but awesome at the same time.
