Why can't I install the new update 4.55? (data corrupted?)

I just bought dark souls 2 and I cant even play online because the playstation wont update, it just says data corrupted! How can I fix this issue?

The default advice for update troubles is to download the latest firmware from the Sony website onto a USB stick and update in safe mode. Instructions for starting the console in safe mode are also on the Sony website.

I have done all of this, I even updated on safe mode onto a formatted USB with the latest update from the official sony website but it just installs 4.53

I JUST WANT TO PLAY ONLINE WHY IS IT SO HARD

This happened to me for a while TC. The usual problem is a a faulty connection to Sony's Servers, which, in my experience, there wasn't anything us end users couldn't do. You just had to keep attempting and attempting to DL it until you get a non-corrupted file.

I mean you could TRY resetting your router, connecting with a different wire or signal, and resetting everything on the PS3 but unfortunately patience is the only real solution to this problem. =/
