I have never really been into FF but Im really enjoying the game so far, will definitely try to complete it all the way through over the next few months. It takes me a while to finish JRPGs, and inFamous: Second Son arriving tomorrow will take away from my FFX play time.

Anyone else playing FFX for the first time?

Friends,

I just ot out my old ps2, and played FFX for the first time in like 3 or 4 years. its a very nice game.

Dont rush it. Grind and grind. explore every nook and crannie. There are some mini games, really try to beat them. some get harder later on.

Watch youtube video's on the mini games, if you are having trouble. They are do-able.

Glad you enjoy this great and milestone setting game. many rpgs have been measured back to this one game.

good luck.

I always though FFX would be a good introductory game because of its accessible story and gameplay.

It wasn't my first FF game, but I remember playing the demo-disc like a million times back on the PS2 before finally buying it.

FFX starts off really great, I was really enjoying it for the first 5 hours or so, but later on the extremely high random encounter rate starts to become a drag.

FFX was how I introduced my wife to jRPGs. She loved it.

Overall, FFX is great for newcomers to the franchise.

I actually thought it starts out slow and gets better and better further into the game.

The only FF game I've ever played was FFIV for the DS. I liked it but it became sorta difficult because of grinding and me missing dual-cast. This was years ago. Never did beat it. Would you guys recommend this game to me or not?

Certainly the first 30 minutes or so are really exciting. Maybe after the 1-2 hour mark the plot might drag a bit, but by that time the game systems still seem new and full of promise. It's not until you get farther in the game that you realize the sphere grid is basically trivial and weapon and armor customization will never amount to anything. And that's when the incessant random battles set in.
