So why is Final Fantasy XIII worse than Final Fantasy X?

Less grinding being necessary for XIII and no reason for backtracking pre-post game in X are hardly opinions.

Funny, since I never really did any grinding in X. Whereas XIII has an area SPECIFICALLY for grinding.

Really can't fall back on its just opinion. There are direct observable things that the majority of people find better in FF 10, and 10-2 than 13. Just off the top of my head the plot is more digestible, and feels much more mature than 13's. The music is widely recognized as being much more enjoyable. The gameplay being much more customizable with out some auto battle garbage literally wresting virtually total control of the experience away from the player. As well as a million other things.

Like X's monster arena, right? I mean every fiend in the game, in one spot. Can't possibly be meant for grinding.

"Arena" means what you seemed to have ignored.

Whereas there's an actual "landscape" in FFXIII expressly FOR grinding, which even the CHARACTERS tell you is for grinding.
