Are any of BlazBlue games just ultimate editions of previous games?

If I wanted to play every game which ones should I play?
Cause I see:
Calamity Trigger
Continuum Shift (It looks like this has a Ultimate edition.)
Chrono Phantasma
Xblaze Code:Embryo

Also I have a PS3, Vita, and PC. So if any have updated versions for other systems tell me that to. Which game is on steam?

They're all upgrades, in the same way that you have Street Fighter 4, Super, Arcade Edition, AE2012, and Ultra...

If you get Continuum Shift, the patch will upgrade you to CS2 (doesn't change the title, but the engine is CS2's) and you can switch between versions in the option menu...

But is CS to CT like an "Ultimate Edition"? No.

Not that fighting games have huge stories, but if I wanted to see the whole thing I have to buy all those games?
Assuming yes, which systems should I get what?
Which ones are on steam and vita in america?

Agreed.

The series is effectively this:
Let's take Guilty Gear, and experiment with nonsense mechanics and ugly character design and see how much of it is liked and hated so we know what to put into GGXRD.

Not even sure I'm going to try, I just want to be informed if I ever do.

Since they're all ugprades of the same game, you probably only need the latest version and you'll be fine.

If it's anything like GGXX as a series, there was 5 games, and they all had the same story.

I don't think they're sequels. I only played CT and CS before the patch, and they were the exact same story - at least for Taokaka. I don't know about the other ones...

But the PS3 versions are the ones used in tournaments.

Right.......... BlazBlue is really good, I'd recommend the latest version. The game is beautiful with HD sprites. Fighting is fast and combo crazy. It's an alternate Guilty Gear really. People who don't like it prolly don't like fighters.

you'll want CP. that's the 'ultra' of BB. ps3 is used for tourneys cause xbox dont have the latest version.

dont get xblade code if you're looking for a fighting game. it's a visual novel.
