Definitely AC2, mainly because there was such a huge leap between the first and second games.
Afterwards each game only offered minor variations on the same formula, for better or for worse.

I liked 2 the most, and here's my order for the games so far. Can't wait for unity and rogue, though.

AC: Brotherhood
AC: Revelations
So many games to play, so little time to play them, so many things to do.

Ive only played one so far black flag and really like it. I downloaded assassins creed 2 on xbox live as part of games with gold (I know its a ps3 board but I own both) I haven't played it yet. But heard it was great. I was wondering if Ill think its so great after playing black flag 1st and never playing the original. Anyway we shall see... I love the sailing but I have a feeling when I finish black flag which is massive I'll have had enough of the open sea and be looking for a change. I was excited about the new one for ps3 but see there will be more boats...

Either AC1 or AC4. I didn't like 2 and haven't played 3. Back before a new AC title was released every year AC1 still felt new and fresh. 4 just looks great. It has a nice original setting. Pirates surprisingly haven't been done that much in video games.
