Anyway the main difference is in Subsiustence the addition of a controlable camera which completely changes the way you can play the game. It's a lot easier but doesn't ruin the game it enhances it. There's a second disc in Subsistence and it had an online mode, Boss Survival mode, Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2:Solid Snake and I beleve some extra Snake Vs Monkey missions. There's also some funny little movies made using the game engine. Head over to youtube and look those up.
Also if you're interested there's a Metal Gear Solid Essentials collection coming out. It has MGS, MGS2:Substance and MGS3:Subsistence. The current theory is it's just disc one of MGS3:Subsistence but it may include Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2:Solid Snake. And that collection is $30.
