Calorie Mate

#1RichPlaystationPosted 9/27/2011 10:31:12 PM
http://tinyurl.com/672kqwa - eBay auction, but not mine obviously.

I wanted to ask, isn't 'Calorie Mate' a solid block of food(?) In this game? So is the liquid/jelly version basically the same thing then meal wise? Would that version have also existed in the 1960's?

I do remember seeing an auction for a number of the block version though, having a 'DO NOT EAT THESE' written on them, I imagine because they had gone off, which is odd because along with the instant noodles, they couldn't go off in the game.

The calorie mates in the game are very similar to calorie mates which are still sold today.

The liquid and jelly versions are more recent products.

Makes sense, O.K. thanks :D
I'd like to try the jelly one, even if just for novelty value.

Also I was thinking, when microwave food first started it was rubbish (Vesta curries come to mind), so I wonder what the instant noodles were like back then too, as they have improved over time I imagine.

I kind of like the taste of the chocolate flavoured Calorie Mate actually.

So what is is like? Other than, you know, chocolate-y?

I once had some space chocolate ice cream (made for actual space travel so it doesn't float everywhere). It was like a sort of chewy spongecake thing, but surprisingly really nice.

It's a bit like a semi-soft cookie.
It does crumble a bit.

I like soft cookies, sounds nice actually :D I've heard everyone else saying they hated them, but you know, everyone have different tastes I guess.

It's anachronistic though, as they were created in the 80s. I didn't know this for a long time and assumed they were from the 60s.

Aren't a lot of things in MGS3 anachronistic though? Or just plain fantasy to begin with? Not that I am being argumentative, but just saying.

I think the caloriemate was put in as a form of in-game advertising.
