Am I alone in wanting this ported to 3DS?

Don't get me wrong, I want the new Smash Bros. for the WiiU and 3DS that is in development, but that will be years from now. And after playing so much Kid Icarus Uprising/SSFIV3DE online and enjoying the portable online experience it has made me really interested in a portable Brawl.

Well, that would be a huge waste of time and money for the developers and the consumers.

Actually, this game is too big to fit on a 3DS card unless they start making larger ones.

I think we'd all rather move on from Brawl as quickly as possible so yes, yes I think you are.
Besides, you're doing it wrong. You're supposed to take good games from a less powerful system and put them on a much more powerful, better system. Not take pretty good games from a big, home console system and then make them worse so they can fit onto a tiny screened portable system. That's insane.

If someone is stupid enough to buy it there will always be someone smart enough to sell it.

^As far as processing power goes, the 3DS is essentially a portable Wii. <_<

But like I said, there's a matter of memory. The largest 3DS game cards that currently exist are 4 gigs. Brawl takes up close to 7 gigs of an 8 gig disc.

Other console ports of various quality, but I think it has less to do with screen size and more to do with the effort involved: Rayman Origins. Super Street Fighter IV. Rayman 3D. Splinter Cell 3D. BlazBlue Continuum Shift II. Dead or Alive Dimensions (mash-up of multiple games). Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D. Bit Trip Saga. Spider-Man Edge of Time. Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D.

Possible ones, since I'm not too sure if they were changed from the console: Lego Star Wars III, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D, Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7...

Since a Smash Bros is coming to the 3DS, I'm not sure why this one is not expected to work, since it will fundamentally be the same Smash Bros gameplay. Regarding size limitations, I don't think we are capable of discussing the compression possibilities.

Sad to see that so far no one else would be pleased at the idea of Nintendo releasing Brawl on 3DS while we wait YEARS for the new one to release.

^Nintendo is very good about compressing their stuff. If Brawl couldn't be compressed to 4 gigs the first time around, it's not going to happen without a severe drop in quality for the SSE movies and possibly music and sound (those are what eat up a large chunk of the data).

Fun fact: Kid Icarus Uprising is on a 2GB card. But there's enough free space on that card to fit New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and possibly still squeeze in Super Mario All-Stars.

I..just don't get why someone would want a home game on a smaller screen. It is so much smaller I just don't understand it..especially when a new Smash game is coming out for it. But I don't see why anyone would want that one when there's an actual home console one coming.

Dude, the smaller screen really isn't that big a deal. Take out your 3DS and sit on your couch. Hold the 3DS at the length you'd normally hold it at for playing games, and look at it while it appears to be next to the TV. From that perspective, is there really that large a difference difference in size?

There's been plenty of great games ported to handhelds after originally being on home consoles.

Not to mention the upcoming sequel will be on both the 3DS and the Wii U, and I imagine there won't be too much of a difference except maybe polygon count. <_<

Why would I want to play something on a what, 12inch screen when I can play it on my 32inch and have it look infinitely better as well? What do I gain from that?
