CLOSE QUARTER COMBATANT (100) - On any level just simply hit germans by clicking the Right Analog Stick, or use grenades. If you shoot any weapon, you must restart the chapter and complete it without shooting in order to get your achievement. This is easiest done on the Second Chapter, 'The Island'.

GRIZZLED VETERAN (150) - You must start a new campaign and select 'Veteran' as your difficulty, then play through every chapter and do NOT replay any of them as this will not unlock your achievement at the end.

Part (4) Tips, Cheats and Glitches

Cheats

There is only one code cheat that I currently know that works. Unlock All Levels and Pictures.

Enter at the Chapter Select Screen. This effect only remains until you restart your console.

Hold Back then D-Pad right, right, left, left, then X, X.

Tips

These are tips I have created myself and I recommend people using. Nothing posted below is cheating or glitching.

Best Kit for large maps (Argentan, Eder Dam, Poisson etc.) - Rifleman or Scout. Best Kit for smaller maps (Rouen, Verdun, Mayenne etc.) - Heavy Assault or Support. When using a sniper rifle, crouch or even better, go prone to have much more accuracy and be well camouflaged. When using a light assault weapon, keep on the move to avoid being shot from snipers/ long range rifles. When using the support kit, go slightly ahead of your team, keeping low and provide cover fire for a moving assault team. Always use cover and use team work/chat to ensure that your team does their best.

Veteran Mode Tips

1. Use smoke grenades.grenades

2. Long range is better than close range.

3. Don't run out in the open.

4. Don't be intimitaded by the amount of times you die on a checkpoint/level.

5. If you get hit by bullets/rockets, drop down to prone.

6. Stick to cover.

7. Make sure that the way is clear or close to it before moving further.

8. Be smart.

Glitches

Call of Duty 3 is full of annoying little glitches that don’t help you in any way at all, such as, getting stuck on scenery, freezing etc. However some people have discovered that some glitches are useful and fun. Below is a video of a few fun glitches to try out. BUT, do not use these in ranked or player matches as it will ruin the fun for others, only try them out in private matches with friends.

Battle - Standard Deathmatch. No kit abilities apply. Team Battle - Team Deathmatch, kit abilities are available. CTF - Capture the flag, with some differences to the traditional formula: while carrying the flag, players are unable to fire their weapon. However a melee attack can be performed with the flag. The flag can also be dropped in order to use weapons. Kit abilities are available in this mode. Single Flag CTF - The same as CTF, except there is one neutral flag in the center of the map. It must be carried to the enemy's base to score a point. War - This mode is similar to Domination in United Offensive. There are maps with 3 or 5 control points marked by flags on the map. Teams start out with half the flags on map, with the odd flag neutral. Each team must attempt to raise their own flag at each point. The team who controls all points will win. Headquarters - The same rules as previous Call of Duty games apply, with some small changes. Players can now re-spawn after dying. After each death, 30 seconds are added to the re-spawn timer. In addition, the time required to successfully defend an HQ has been reduced to 90 seconds.

Port Forwarding and Compatible Xbox Live Routers FAQ (PART 6)

Introduction The Router Giving your Xbox 360 a Static IP Address Port Forwarding Other Possible Solutions FAQ Credits and Contact Information

.:: Introduction ::.

This guide is for those who just can’t connect to online games in CoD3. In this guide, I will help you to get a smoother online connection for CoD3 and future games. You are probably wondering why CoD3 gives you so much trouble though, right? Well, it can be for several reasons. The most likely is that you don’t have any proper ports forwarded, or that you router may just be out of date. It just happens to be affecting you now because Treyarch built its network around Microsoft’s recommendations. This is how it should be for all games. But don’t fret. This guide will help you fix it. And the best part is, you don’t have to be networking genius to do it. Here are the two main goals that I hope to achieve in this guide.

1. Make it so that your NAT is open, and not strict or moderate.

2. Make it so that you can connect to games and people flawlessly. Well, shall we get started?

.:: The Router ::.

First, you need to make sure you have an Xbox Live Compatible Router. If you don't, you may not be able to connect to players on Xbox Live properly. Here is a list of Compatible Routers and Non-Compatible Routers.

Port Forwarding and Compatible Xbox Live Routers FAQ (PART 6) Continued

Just a quick note. Even though your router is on the approved router list, that doesn’t mean that you are getting the smoothest connection. So even if your Xbox Live seems to be running fine, and your NAT is currently open, it is still a good idea to forward the correct ports to your Xbox 360.

If your router is on the non - approved list, you can still go ahead and follow this guide. However, I cannot guarantee it will work. You may just want to invest into a new router.

Now, what if your router isn’t on either of those list? Don’t worry. There is way that you can improve your connection, or in some cases, fix it completely. It’s called port forwarding. And it’s a wonderful thing. As much as I’d love to post a guide for each and every router, I simply cannot. Every router is different.

But here is what I can do. First, I will help you set up a Static IP Address for your Xbox 360.

.:: Giving Your Xbox 360 a Static IP address ::.

Great, now you have a Static IP set up for your computer. Now for your Xbox 360 (credit for Xbox 360 IP goes to http://live.tommccann.net/)

Step 1: On the Xbox 360 Dashboard, go to your Settings Blade, then select Network Settings, and then select Edit Settings. Step 2: Select IP Settings, and enter the following information (based on your router)

Linksys

IP Address : 192.168.1.250 Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 Gateway : 192.168.1.1 DNS : 192.168.1.1

D-Link

IP Address : 192.168.0.250 Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 Gateway : 192.168.0.1. DNS : 192.168.0.1

Netgear

IP Address : 192.168.0.250 Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 Gateway : 192.168.0.1 DNS : 192.168.0.1

Now select the DNS settings, and enter the DNS settings listed above. After, that it should ask you if you want to test connections. Do that, and then save. Don’t worry if you NAT settings still doesn’t read OPEN. We aren’t done yet.

.:: Port Forwarding ::.

 Now for the fun part. It also happens to be the most important part. Forwarding the ports. First, I will explain how to do it in a vague way. If you sort - of know your stuff already, you shouldn’t have problem.

First, go to your router settings, and go to the forwarding menu. While in the that menu, enable the following ports to be forwarded.

88 UDP 2074 TCP and UDP 3074 TCP and UDP

Two things. One, make sure they are being forwarded to your Xbox 360’s IP address. Two, make sure you have the correct protocols selected. If you only have the option to enable one or the other, then use TCP for ports 2074 and 3074. If you can use both, then go ahead and use both. It may or may not make difference.

For more in depth guides, go to:

www.portforward.com

From there, click port forwarding. Now select your router. After that, select Xbox Live 360, and it will give you a guide. It should ask you to input the Static IP you are trying to forward. Use the same Static IP as your Xbox 360.

 Awesome. Save all of your settings, and then reset your router. You can do this by either using the factory reset, or just by unplugging it for a minute.

And there ya go! You did it!

Port Forwarding and Compatible Xbox Live Routers FAQ (PART 6) Continued

.:: Other Possible Solutions ::.

Give your computer a Static IP

Why will this work you may ask? Well, I from my personal experience, it seems to have improved the connection between my router and my Xbox 360. I have also heard of cases that giving your computer a Static IP increases connection quality if you are using a Switch that isn’t built into the router your are using. Also, if you are streaming media from your PC to your 360, a Static IP on your PC will help quite a bit.

Warning! If you are not comfortable with changing IP settings on your computer, do not give your computer a Static IP. If you mess up, you may not even be able to connect to the internet, and will need to find another way to fix it.

 Here are guides to help you set up a Static IP. Make sure you are using the Guide that uses the same operating system you are using.

Windows XP - http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm Windows ME - http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-me.htm Windows 2K or 2000 - http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-2k.htm Windows 98 - http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-98.htm Mac OS X v 10.4 - http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-Mac10.4.htm

Port Triggering

Port Triggering is very similar to Port Forwarding. The difference is that when forwarding, you can only forward to one IP address, your firewall is automatically makes rules to allow the forwarding. Port Triggering allows you forward to all IP Address, but you have to make your own firewall rules, and that is where it gets tricky.

Why use Port Triggering over Port Forwarding?

Well, just use whichever works best for you. I recommend Port Triggering for the more Advanced users. Here is a guide for Port Triggering.

www.portforward.com

Follow the same steps as you would for the port forwarding guide, but instead, select port triggering.

Set your Xbox 360 to DMZ Host

Again, this is just from personal experience. Setting your Xbox 360 as the DMZ host may or may not make the difference. It can’t hurt to try it.

Disable UPnP

Yep. Again, it all depends on the router. It may or may not work. Switch back and forth to see which is best.
