Fist Fight Tournament

Does anyone have a good strategy for the Level 4 Fist Fight Tournament in Knothole Hill?

I've played through it several times and when I get to the final person, the Mayor... he hits me twice and I lose. Is there a good way to defeat him without taking a heat or does anyone know just how many hits it requires to defeat him?

I usually do a one-two punch and then roll away...though it took me over 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure there's an easier strategy.

Well, the knothole glade fist fighter boss( the town's chief) he has a crap load of health. alot more than anyone else. what i did, i just guarded til he did the little charge up little punch looking thing, and i rolled behind him and started punching from behind and he wont turn around til you stop punching. its a cheap strategy, but its an easy win ;)

I'm not sure if higher strength beats them faster. I know it does more damage per hit, but I've always counted the strikes on each opponent. The first one usually is done with 3 hits, the next is 4, and so on. I remember the mayor of Knothole Glade took me nearly 40 hits to down him. I stopped counting because I was taking damage and lost focus on the number of times I hit him.

Block until you learn his combo, and when he'll pause. Then hit him with a flourish punch. When he's on the ground, walk around behind him and punch him in the back as much as you can when gets back on his feet. When you push him out of the ring, stop, and get back in the ring, and start the routine again.

I'm the only one that just punched him over and over?

I mean, technically, his reviews could be "funked" up. Who's to doubt the amount of funk in his reviews?
