WTF, I start as an assassin and then suddenly I'm Batman? (spoilers)

The entire last quarter of the game is basically just you fighting huge groups of thugs, one after another without any possibility for stealth, or running away or avoiding combat at all. what mortal Assassin worthy of the title just runs around in the same uniform everyone's looking for and just goes on repeated sword rampages till everyone's dead, just to kill one guy

And wtf Arsuf, half a dozen groups of thugs in groups of 10+, cheesy unblockable attack spam, invisible walls, no hiding spots and they see through stealth. Probably cause Altaire is brain dead and doesn't think to wear a military disguise

Cant hide or sneak or even run in whole next area too, its just you trying to be batman taking huge groups of thugs

From the docks onwards this game went from a pretty good game to one of the most annoying gaming experiences of my life. Go through all that crap and get that ending?

he needed to kill him and killing his men helps. the combat is surprisingly easy so just enjoy the rampage.

Thinking is the hardest kind of work, which is probably why so few engage in it.

I couldn't take your advice. Was too hard to enjoy the game just doing a 180 and becoming stupid, so I begrudgingly finished it and complained instead.

One of the good things about Assassins Creed is the option of stealth. But yeah, the last three targets in the last two memory blocks take that option away. Most players would look at the cup as mostly full, though. If you really hate having to fight those targets to kill them, here are some alternative methods that are the closest to stealth.

There are also Early Deaths (killing the target beforehand). Be sure to read the descriptions.

And if combat is too slow for you, there are times in combat you can assassinate enemies with the hidden blade without them blocking it.

Thanks, I appreciate the list but I already soldiered on and finished it. Enjoying 2 much more. Well except for the jumping puzzles in assassins tombs

To be fair, you spend like half the game climbing tall buildings so you can crouch broodingly like a gargoyle, leap tremendous distances, have tons of cool toys, and repeatedly save citizens by beating the **** out of people who are abusing them. Also, you're involved with a sort of league of Assassins.

You were ALWAYS Batman. You just didn't realize it.

Also, playing some more, I'm reminded of the constant eagle imagery (which makes sense, since the real world Assassins were based in Alamut, which means "Eagle's Nest"). So you ALSO have a flying animal-based motif. And a habit of dropping down on enemies from above.

So, you're not Batman, you're Eagleman (Batman's daytime cousin).

Speaking of which, why doesn't Alta´r just wait for nightfall and stab people while they're sleeping, then run off into the shadows? Would probably be a lot easier than killing people in broad daylight while covered in weapons.

Because the assassinations take place during the daytime. Altair has to wait for the target to appear, remember?

With all the investigation he has to do in advance, he could just find out where they sleep and shank them there.

Obviously, the two answers to why he doesn't kill them at night are a) because the Assassins control people through fear, and getting killed in broad daylight in the middle of a crowd is scarier than being killed alone at night, and b) the game actually wants to challenge the player, but still.
