it sounds like this game is a sequel to the original AITD 1-3. so what was up with AITD: new nightmare. was that game like a reboot that didnt work or what. i am really confused.

in my nintendo power it says that edward carnby has been transported from the 20's to 2008. so that sounds like a sequel to the first 3. in a new nightmare it takes place in 2001. so im guessing a new nightmare was more of a stand alone non-cannon game in the series.

can anyone shed some light on this for me

Some boardies want to tie 5 in with New Nightmare...except now it's dropped all notion of the number 5 and the Devs want you to accept that this is the 4th part.

Until the story is fully told, for now AITD5 is AITD4 and New Nightmare never happened.

Um, ok. when is this game even coming out? seriously weve been waiting forever but notta lick of info has trickled down the grapevine.

they just had an article in the feburary edition of nintendo power. all version are set to come out on july 15 '08 while the ps3 version is set for januarary of '09 for some reason. but again these dates are subjest to change. but that was the latest info i got and the magazine was for feburary

god new nightmare was ****ed up. not sayin i didnt like it but damn......

hopefully this one repairs the series.

New Nightmare was supposed to be a reboot for the series. Ultimately it wasn't.

I thought this game was supposed to be a reboot/update to the character of Carnby and not a direct sequel.

What do I know.

Seeing you guys talking about it makes me worrie, because this is going to be the first AitD I've played, will I not understand a single snippet of story because I haven't played all of them or what?

I think you'll be ok. You didn't have to play the others before The New Nightmare to understand it.

Like I said before. I doubt this will be a "direct" sequel to the first 3.

Nah, you won't need to know much about Carnby as a character.

He's just a 1920's private investigator who reluctantly investigates the supernatural. That's all you really need to know since every game isn't connected directly with each other and you can just ignore New Nightmare.
