Because although I'm only at the end of Case 3, it's pretty obvious he's just another Phoenix character. You can tell slight differences, but his character is Phoenix like. Which is probably why one of the reasons they changed Phoenix. Didn't want two of the same character.
Phoenix is still one of my favorite characters of all time, (I just beat the first 3 and I heard nothing but bad stuff about AJ) but Apollo is cool. I'm just curious if people legitimately dislike Apollo or if they just hate him because he isn't Phoenix.
Him being so similar to Phoenix is one of the reasons I dislike him. As a Smash Bros vet, I can't stand clones. And the differences he has that make him different, I dislike. For example he's twice as animated and dorky as Nick, and he already pushed my limits on "dorkiness" as it was.
Another reason I dislike Apollo is how much he flails about in trials when he has by far the easiest prosecutor (sans Edgeworth when he's helping Nick) to deal with. Klavier just wants to get down to bussiness, aside from his stupid ass rock star motif and his occasional "herr forehead", he's very fair and balanced, yet every time Klavier points out the smallest most obvious fact that Apollo overlooks, Apollo reacts as if Klavier bit a baby's head off.
All things considered, I dislike Apollo, but not to extreme degrees. He's a goofball and a slightly annoying main character, not the worst thing in the world and there are several instances in the game where I approved of him. Honestly, him not being Phoenix was never even a factor.
