Today's Question

Day #356: "Home run?"
Do you want to see monsters flying off when hit by particularly powerful hits?

Ragdoll physics can bring both dramatic and silly results. Do you want to see your character perform epic feats of power, sending enemies careening tens of feet off into the air, or do you think that is silly and shouldn't be in the world of Diablo?

Pros
+Dramatic

Cons
-Silly if overdone

My Vote
NAY. Let's let strength be shown in terms of how much gore is shown.

Devil's Advocate
YAY. There was nothing silly when Neo sent all those Agents into the air.

Yay, mainly because it already happens in some cases; whether critical hits causing death, or slight glitches in the physics engine. There's also that moment of awesomeness where your last attack blasts some creature into a wall or other creatures at high velocity; provided there's appropriate crunchy noises, there's lots of maniacal giggling to go round.

Nay, looks too strange. I used a mod like that in Titan Quest once, it got boring quite quickly.

Nay

I feel like that would up the requirements of computer parts that people either can't afford or don't want to get. I also don't think demons and monsters would fly around from a hit like that no matter how powerful a person is. Certain things might make them fly a few feet from where they were standing though.

Yay - I'm intending to play this game for quite a while, the death animations of monsters are something you're going to see over and over and over again, throwing in ragdoll physics on some kills makes their deaths a little less monotonous.
