Just some tips on collecting all of the pieces for the Staff of Herding (secret)

#1LazerLXXVII2Posted 5/18/2012 9:32:27 PM

That thread has all the information, but just to get an idea on the time of it all.

Leroic's Shinbone took maybe 7-8 tries, about 20 minutes.

The Black Mushroom took another 7-8 tries, another 20 minutes.

Liquid Rainbow took I'm guessing about 30 tries, if I found the mysterious cave, the cave didn't have the chest. About 2 hours.

Wirt's Bell is just saving up your gold, start early!

Gibbering Gemstone took maybe 12-13 tries, about an hour and a half.

Plans: Staff of Herding took maybe 3 tries, no more than 20 minutes.

And then you need another 50,000 to craft it.

It takes a long time! Just giving a heads up for people so that you're patient with it all, I wasn't expecting to spend this much time doing this.

Leroic's Shinbone 2 tries so about 5 minutes.

The Black Mushroom also 2 tries
Liquid Rainbow stop paying attention to how long it took. i know it was around 14 tries. the cave can spawn at 2 different places.
Wirt's Bell wasnt really a problem. i dont spend much and the only time i did spend was to repair.

Gibbering Gemstone yep about an hour and half. chiltara didnt want to seem to spawn UNTIL after i decided to stop looking for it.

Plans: Staff of Herding i got really lucky took me only one try,

I'm only a little ways into Act 2, but I've gotten very lucky so far. I got the black mushroom and the shinbone without even realizing what they are for. 1st try, both items.

Leoric. I have no idea why that bothers me. Leroic sounds like Heroic, not the guys name at all. Leoric sounds like.. Leoric.

Either way, good to hear that it shouldn't take too many runs. I got the mushroom on my first play not realizing what it was for.

Does anyone know if you have to pick them up in order of appearance? I'm saving for the bell but don't want to waste time looking for the plans if they won't spawn yet. Thanks.
Pardon me, I have Scuderia

I think the only thing I didn't get on my first run through of each area was the plans for the staff itself, seemed incredibly not-rare for something that was supposed to be secret.
Well, and the bell, but as a purchase 'm not sure it counts, never mind the idea of somehow having the money for it from a single run through Act 1.
