Who are you to quantify someones enjoyment? What are your hobbies outside of gaming? How much money a year do you spend on said hobbies? What if the only game he is going to play in the next 2 years in Diablo 3 while you spend $1,000 dollars over the course of 2 years on different games you play, does that make you an idiot for spending that much more money than him on video games over the course of the same time period? Seriously, I expect most of these posts are from people under the age of 20 who have no idea of intrinsic value.

No one has come up with a logical choice of words to answer this statement. When you do, I'll be back to say sorry. Saying "I like to" doesn't justify such a bone-headed move. Ask your parents, friends, etc. who don't play this game if that is stupid and they will laugh in your face because....it's stupid.


Better yet....a diablo title. Lol. I might as well buy a shooting game, and then buy the best gun so I can be the best, yay. Now I can kill everyone regardless if I did anything because I'm the best. Or better yet, a shooter where the entire objective is to kill people to find the best weapons. Do you not get how this diminishes the game?


Come up with a decent answer, not just "I will spend money on what I want to" or something along those lines. A legit, thought-out, logical answer.

Except I gave you a legit logical answer and all you could come up with is this non-sense. You know why? Because you don't even have a clue what intrinsic value means. How is spending $65,000 on an Audi S4 over spending $25,000 on a Toyota Camry justified? The amount of enjoyment someone gets out of something varies from person to person, you can not call him an idiot because YOU don't get enjoyment out of what he does. Again, if you spend over $1,000 dollars on video games in the next 2 years while he spends $500 on Diablo 3 and subsequent items while buying no other video games in the next 2 years, you have spent A LOT more than him and more than likely received no more enjoyment than he did. People really need to understand other perspectives than just their own instead of going around insulting people.

This is not the case.

Actually, they don't have to justify it at all. If they did, "I felt like it" is sufficient justification for you. You aren't the IRS.

People can, and will, spend their money on whatever they damn well please, and I'd wager you could count the ones that would care about your opinion re: their spending on one hand.

I just want to know if you're honestly making the argument that you think that buying 250$ worth of virtual items in Diablo 3 can possibly increase his enjoyment of the game enough that it would equal that of 4-5 full games worth of new content. Because that seems pretty unlikely.

I have a very hard time believing that you actually believe this to be true. I also truly doubt this guy is going to play Diablo 3 for 2 years and nothing else. If anything it just appears that he has a decent disposable income and can thus afford to make crappy purchases. This doesn't make them good purchases, it just makes them crappy purchases from someone with the money to afford said crappy purchases.

He's welcome to think he made a great purchase. We're welcome to think he didn't. That's how these things work.
