D2 players - a question for you...

LeSituasianPosted 6/24/2012 10:41:30 PM
What exactly made D2 so much more playable than this?
Exclude ladders because that could easily be implemented if blizzard wanted to in a single patch.
I also understand that to test out builds you had to reroll a hero.

I played D2 for a very short period of time and in terms of replay value I don't see how much more there could be compared to D3 as it stands...

I'm just curious why people are saying this has so much less replay value even though I would hate to reroll just to play a new.build but that's just me...

It wasn't something I had played before. I never have played diablo, but I will remember playing diablo 2 until the day I die ^^

Rerolling in diablo 2 wasn't a big deal. Almost everyone grushed to the 80-90s in a day anyways. The biggest difference, was that there were far more viable builds and diversity. People like to troll and go, no there was several cookie cutters. Um, sure there were but there were tons of extremely good pve builds and a good amount of decently viable pvp outside cookie cutter. I made so many funny builds. I had a frost zealer, warcry barb with engima(lolz), throwing barb. I had a lot of fun builds outside the hammerdin, ww barb, smiter, guided arrow zon, light sorc routine, bone necro, elemental druid. Hell mode was so easy, anything worked.

It had a certain charm to it that D3 has yet to match, and the last levels didn't feel incomplete/rushed.

Also for me personally I liked how the areas were randomized so you didn't know exactly where to go every time you as you do in most of D3. I understand that some areas weren't random, but that's just one thing I personally miss that perhaps others may not.

I played D2 for 5 years and D3 is amazing, the people who hate something are always going to appear to be the majority because those of us actually enjoying the game aren't whining on forums 24/7, we're playing the game and sometimes discussing class strategy on reddit.

I played D2 on and off for years. I never got serious about it but I can say I got into it better hardcore for a while. But the one thing i loved about it was the drops. You always had something to outdo what you already had on come to you on your way to the next boss and stashed what you were wearing (just incase). There was no save and quit and go to AH to buy gear before taking on the next act or quest. There was no jumping around in quests. It was all free roam.

I was excited about D3 and played the beta. With no AH i didn't expect drop rates to be nerfed after beta in order to compensate for the AH so i was still excited. When i bought the game I dealt with it. I got my time and fun out of it but as i continued to grind for gold or sell stuff on AH to progress i got bored. I did not feel like i was playing Diablo. It felt like a generic run of the mill MMO with a Diablo camera angle.

I don't throw down in the hatefest, but the more Blizzard puts out the more i have geared towards doing so, just sayin'.
