Whirlwind barb gear questions

#1DrLuigee21Posted 9/5/2012 2:47:16 AM
I got to 60 recently and bought a bunch of gear for ~700k. I've upgraded a couple pieces from random drops, but I finally got a pretty good drop that sold for 5 millionish. Basically, I now have 5 million to spend on upgrades. I've been cruising through act 1 easily, and can clear act 2, but I want to move on to beating and farming act 3.

I know I need more all resist, and I was maybe thinking of switching to a mighty weapon and getting an amulet with critical hit chance to make up for the loss? Should I get a lower dps mainhand weapon with strength and maybe a socket or something? Where do you think I could most effectively spend my money? Upgrading a lot of things a bit, or one thing in particular?

Thanks.

You have what looks to be decent gear, it seems like you sacrificed a bit of res to get regular stats though. I did the same thing when I got into Inferno, and systematically replaced every piece that had less than ~50 all res.

Personally, I was also dual wielding, then I dropped my offhand and got a decent shield, as soon as I did that I could farm act 3 haha. You can get decent crit chance (up to 10%), MF, and big stats on shields.

Other than that I would upgrade the ammy, you can get a good amount of crit damage which will boost your dps. You can take a look at my profile in sig to get an idea of what to shoot for, I can farm act 3 with maybe 1 death.

Hit a brick wall starting Act 3. Act 1 was very easy. Act 2 stated getting hard in the end
In Act 3 I can't even get to the 1st fire in the 1st quest without dying
What stats should I improve and which gear items should be improved 1st?

For you I would go with Chest, Helm, Bracers and Weaps, not necessarily in that order.

You can get BIG numbers in the chest armor, get some crit on your bracers, and some more dps on your main weap.

I would shoot for at least 40k life, and 500 all res (unbuffed) for a3. Best route I have heard of when it comes to upgrading, is to make a spreadsheet or notepad doc, then list off all your gear, and do some AH searching to find what all your current gear is worth. Then just upgrade the cheapest piece you have, and so on.

looks like you have somewhat low critical chance that makes maintaining ww a little difficult, so try to find an axe or mace for your main hand for 10% more crit. A shield with good block percentage can be very helpful as you can block while spinning, and they also can give you more critical hit, str, and vit needed to stay alive. The enchantress is also your best friend solo because she gives you free armor.

Everything else looks fine.

Why does Thor like bowling? Because he gets Mighty Strikes.

Won't an Axe or Mace instead of Mighty weapon on main hand cause me not to have enough Fury regenration?

With weapon master you gain 10 cc just from using an axe/mace in the main hand. You can go back to a mighty weapon once you bring everything else up to par to support it.

I play WW barb. I have a ton of decent barb gear in my thread. The weapons there got me through acts 1 and 2. Ideally you want a dagger for your offhand, but that spear got me into act 3. Take a look.

changed a few items but still getting trashed in early act 3 mostly cos I run out of rage fast.
Got lucky with a legendary and sold it, and I have around 17 million gold so can afford a few quality items.
Which items should I replace and which are good enough to last to the end?
