Wizards and Wands

Another simple question here - what is the point of equiping a wand?

Other than being able to shoot a ranged attack without using any of your skills, is there any point to equiping a wand rather than something else?

Which weapon stats affect my skills/spells?

You equip a wand if it offers better stats than an alternative weapon.

A wand can have stats that other weapons don't.
Max AP and APOC for example.
The most wanted wand is Chantodo's Will, cause of it's high attack speed, APOC and INT stats, it makes many other weapons quiet useless.

Further question - say I put a flawless emerald into a wand socket (25% increased critical hit dmg) - do I get that on my skills, or just when I use the default wand projectile?

Thanks. So when you look at your DPS, how do you know what it's referring to? Which skill is it even basing this off of? How can it calculate your DPS without knowing your pattern/rotation?

It's referring to base attack with 100% damage.

No

If it is referring to base attack damage, which makes sense, then how are people estimating their DPS all the time using all skills?
