I thought it was too slow such that playing it would become more of a task than a game. I got annoyed with Nigel's accent and unexpected pauses when speaking (... the clock / is stuck / at 9oclock! ... there is a windmill / carved / into the wood...).
I can't say for certain at what part of the game did I start to like it, but probably in the mirror scrying part. The atmosphere for scaring is so nicely presented (at least for me), that I refused to play the game in the middle of night when Nigel is tasked to visit the cemetery at night time.

Yeah, I got hooked when the ghost hunting started up. And it creeped me out too.
