Kirby TV Channel - Episode 38 Unavailable? Why? Also about German bonus eps

#1avengahPosted 9/18/2011 5:26:37 PM
Does anyone know? I did some digging, and discovered that the episodes are in the exact order they were aired in Japan. Episode 38 is listed as "Unavailable for this language", apparently in every available language, according to a website I saw the other day. Checking the order reveals that it's called "A Novel Approach", which is a Harry Potter & the Philosopher's Stone parody. Could it be that JK Rowling or someone wasn't happy about it, and could this be why it's not being shown?

Of course, I was curious, so I tracked the episode down, and it's actually quite good.

Also, about the German bonus episodes (it goes up to 54, not 51, apparently), can we change our console language to German after episode 51 to get them? Not that there's much point, as there's no subtitles and I don't understand a word of German.

Finally, ESCARGOON!!! :)

I asked here a while ago and we just theorised that 4Kids decided that too much needed to be censored so they didn't bother translating the episodes. Are you sure that the episodes are in the same order as the Japanese series though? I could swear when I tried to track episode 38 down I found that they were re-ordered or omitted since there were 100 episodes in Japanese and the original run in the US.

^Episode 38 hasn't aired yet. The current schedule is up to episode 25. On the timetable you can usually see the upcoming episodes; their name, a plot summary etc. but ep 38 just gives the "episode not available in this language" message.

OK, if you go to that link and find any episode with different Japanese and English episode numbers, then go on to the Kirby TV Channel's schedule, you'll find that episode under its Japanese number. I checked before. There was a website talking about the channel somewhere that stated they were in the Japanese order, too.

Apparently, there's a "dentist" episode that wasn't shown in the US during the first showing over there, due to someone thinking it was too gory or something. That episode IS being shown here, as it's in the first 51.

I might try copying the channel to an SD card as a backup in case something goes wrong, then changing my console language to see what happens. Incidentally, I think I've got the maximum number of bonuses, too, since I've not received a key or crystal ball for ages. I discovered that you could receive extra keys by simply watching the same episode over and over again; all you need to do is start it playing and leave it for 20 minutes. It doesn't tell you how many keys you've got, though - I think I've got five or six, and one Crystal Ball.

On the Wii. It's called the Kirby TV Channel. You'll be able to watch the first episode, and the most recent four. You can get keys to watch missed episodes, and a crystal ball (very rare) to watch a future episode. Since you can get keys by just playing episodes over and over (although the max is about 5 or 6 at a time), you should theoretically be able to unlock all the missed episodes if you can be arsed to leave the Wii playing an episode over and over again.

I'm not sure why they're doing it; maybe they're trying to increase awareness of the cartoon. I'm glad, though - otherwise I'd never have known about the extremely funny Escargoon and NME Salesman! They're cameoing in Kirby: Mass Attack, and without this, we might well not have recognised the cameos.

Here's hoping they'll do The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 next! (I don't think so, though...)

Ah, okay, that makes sense then. And yeah I haven't got any bonuses in a while, lol. One crystal ball and presumably 6 keys, although I'm sure I never got that many. >.>

Let me know how the language changing works out.

And to the poster asking about where we're watching this, it's a Europe-only thing, so if you're in the US you won't get the Kirby TV Channel :(
