Wii Stopped Working...

#1gamagirl95Posted 7/7/2012 7:15:21 PM
Very recently, my Wii stopped playing discs, and I don't know the reason for it. My friends say it's because the eye in the Wii (the device that reads the discs) has been used up too much, and stopped working. They're saying I should get it fixed at GameStop. Isn't there a way I can fix it on my own?

You can try cleaning it with a lens cleaner. If that doesn't work, send it in to Nintendo.

I put extra emphasis on sending it to Nintendo, not Gamestop.

You CAN fix it on your own. I replaced my DVD drive pretty easily and even did it for a friend. Just google for a "Wii DVD drive amazon".

Looks like the drive sells for $43 right now. You may also need a tri-wing screwdriver if you don't have one already, and a philips head.

You can replace it yourself very easily by using youtube videos that show exactly how its done. Disassembly and replacement will take you 20 mins at the most.
