Top 5 Third Party Games

#1TalesRevenantPosted 4/8/2013 10:52:40 PM
The Wii, while polluted with shovelware, had its gems. What's everyone's favorite?

There's three rules:

Can't be a Nintendo Published/Co-Developed Game

(The Last Story, Pandora's Tower)

Can't be a port

(Resident Evil 4, Okami)

Has to be exclusive/created for Wii

1) No More Heroes 2
2) Muramasa: The Demon Blade
3) Fragile Dreams
4) Dragon Quest Swords
5) Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World

Honorable Mention: Madworld

The published by Nintendo rule really gets in the way. It discounts most of my favourites, even if they were not developed directly by Nintendo (Inazuma Eleven Strikers, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Endless Ocean series). Some of them were also published by Nintendo in Europe but not the US (Pandora's Tower and The Last Story, Trauma Center series, Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3).

Anyway, my list ends up something like so:

- Ivy the Kiwi?
- Sky Crawlers
- Go Vacation
- de Blob 1
- Ghost Squad

I wanted to pick Sakura Wars but caught myself. Technically, Muramasa is no longer an exclusive (also on Vita).

I'm assuming remakes like Klonoa don't count as well. However, I think that "a boy and his blob" should count, because it's really an all-new game patterned after an old game, not a port/remake of the NES original. With that in mind, here's my five favorites (in no particular order):

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars
Sonic Colors
a boy and his blob
Rune Factory Frontier
Dewy's Adventure (yes, really; I freely admit this game is flawed, but I love it despite its flaws)
---
"If a beautiful woman with a big chest is in trouble, save them even if it means your life."
- Shing Meteoryte, Tales of Hearts

That's a hard one. Unlike popular belief, I found Wii's 3rd party support to be much better than what the GC got. Here goes:

1)Monster Hunter Tri
2)No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
3)Muramasa: The Demon Blade
4)Madworld
5)Silent Hill: Origins

TakayaNoriko: Back in my day, we pressed buttons that didn't do anything because we thought it would give us special power-ups. And that's the way we liked it!

Agreed on the third party bit, but...this was not a Wii game...was it?

For me it's (in no particular order);

No More Heroes 2
Red Steel 2
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
Fragile Dreams

While that's true, the Wii version is the original version. It was made ground-up for the Wii. The Vita version is a port, so technically it counts. Same goes for stuff like Monster Hunter Tri. It was on the Wii first, before it moved to 3DS/Wii U.

Also: Loving all the lists so far! Seeing many similar lists. I guess it just shows how weak the Wii's support truly was, without any First Party holding its hand.
