If FFXV gets announced at E3 2013, will people lose interest in Versus XIII?

That depends if FF XV is turn based or like Dirge of Cerberus and Kingdom Hearts, because to be honest turn based RPG combat has been outdated for a long time.

it's an own style of gameplay, it can't be "outdated". that's like saying "FPS" is outdated. you can implement it in various different ways.
I for one, love turn based more then anything else. I even dislike "fast ATB" style. FF X was almost perfect in that way imo. I'd like to see a variation of that; improved here and there.

I've already lost interest in it.

What if they said f*** it! And just renamed this into FFXV? Seriously, it would renew interest in people and they wouldn't have to get rid of all their work.

At first I thought this was a subliminal "Versus name change to FFXV" troll topic
now I'm not so sure...about the name change part, that is :P

I can personally guarantee that FFVersusXIII will sell 7 million copies on day one in Poland alone. Never mind the rest of the world.

TBH I am worried how it will fare against next gen games. Maybe it's a bit early to start worrying about that given the PS3 and 720 seem a while away but with Xenoblade 2 demo seen on the Wii U i Am very concerned for Versus. Who's is gonna want a RPG on an old system when there are great ones on new systems? (Aside from those of us who have been waiting 6 years for this lol)

Again, this is ways away for me to start worrying but if Versus is delayed far enough for the PS3 and 720 to be out then it will be in trouble

PS4 and 720 aren't far away. end of 2013, early 2014.
