The Last Remnant for PS3 is still listed on the official Square Enix website...

This is getting very interesting. It's a list of games scheduled to release in 2013 or later. Both TLR and Versus have a TBA release date next to them:

http://www.jp.square-enix.com/game/year/13/

It should be noted that the official Square Enix Japan website has been updated countless times since Yoichi Wada hinted TLR on PS3 was cancelled at a Square Enix investors meeting on June 24, 2009. In the almost 4 years since then, TLR for PS3 has never been removed from the official Square Enix Japan website. Instead, it has been continually moved forward a year like FF Versus XIII.

The fact that TLR and FF Versus XIII both have TBA next to them could mean that TLR will soon come out. Either that, or it could mean that Versus XIII is also canned and those Kotaku rumors were more legit than originally thought.

Just shows more than Square Enix doesn't know what it does

Or SE could have just forgotten about it like many of us. TLR is irrelevant and a waste of time at this point.

How could they have they forgotten about it if they are actively moving both it and FF Versus XIII from year to to year? They've been moving TLR and FF Versus XIII since 2008. They were both in the "2008 or later" section, then when that year ended, they created a "2009 or later" section and moved them there. Then when 2009 ended they created a "2010 or later" section and moved them there, etc, etc.

Now they've both been moved to the "2013 or later" section after 2012 has ended. They know both these games are listed and they are deliberately not removing them. I'm certain they intend to release TLR at some point, just like they do FF Versus XIII. Either that, or both TLR and Versus XIII have been quietly cancelled and they are just continuing to move them from year to year to mislead people. Maybe that Kotaku rumor was right.

It's almost certainly just coded in that if the listed date is older than the current date, it rolls over to the next ambiguous date.

Sounds like Square actually took their own advice and 'forgot about it for a while'.

Remember it is just a man the same as you or me updating their website, it isn't the word of god or SE's manifested spirit updating the information.

I remember back before Advent Children released we were under the impression it would be a simultaneous release in Japan and NA, and they even put up a giant countdown timer on the NA website. Once it got close to release they took the timer down and stated there was never an intention for it to be simultaneous release.

If journalists would bring the subject of TLR up more often, maybe SE would have to fess up about the game.
